I have a PNY Technologies 256MB CompactFlash card, a SanDisk card reader, and pictures are taken from Canon A80. I have lost all the images on the disk, and this is the second time this has happened. Is it something I am doing, is it a shotty memory card, what the hell. Had a bunch of images from a pheasant hunt we had today. I am pretty unhappy.

When I look at the drive in Windows Explorer, I see two folders and a file: the folders are DCIM & MISC. There is nothing in MISC and there is another folder inside the DCIM called CANONMSC. Inside the CANONMSC folder there are seven files. 104.ctg, 105.ctg, 106.ctg,107.ctg,110.ctg,111.ctg, & 112.ctg.

Anyone have any idea what this means, or if I can recover the lost picture files?

Generally speaking, “Yes” it is possible.

When a file gets deleted or lost from the memory cards, it does not get erased permanently. Instead, the card only marks the area where the deleted/lost files stored as reusable and hence you can add new data to just overwrite them.

If you do not overwrite the existing data by adding any new files on PNY memory card and if you follow the right file recovery process, you can still get back deleted files.

Pny Recovery Software

I have a 32 GB Flash Drive (Originally a FAT32 but recently changed to NTFS right before it stopped working) that I purchased in February of this year. Everything was working fine until I plugged it in 3 days ago and my computer, an HP Pavilion dv7 - Win 7 64x, would not recognize it. It was completely random because no changes were made to my computer recently, though, it is up to date.
I've tried EVERYTHING I can find on Google. Sometimes I'll get lucky and the Windows format option will pop-up and I format it, then right-click on the drive, select Properties, and click error checking. I've done both options multiple times including 'Scan for and attempt to recover bad sectors' which does successfully fix my drive....temporarily. If I unplug it (by correctly ejecting it, which I always do) then it will decide on it's own if it wants to be recognized. If I try to put any size and/or type of file on the drive, then it will stop at an unspecified time through the process and give me some sort of error saying it cannot copy the file because the specified path file does not exist. Something like that.
I've tried Disk Management and renaming the letter for the drive then formatting. No effect. Uninstalling the drivers through the Device Manager, restarting, then inserting the USB back into to re-install them. No effect again. Multiple HDD programs that I've seen suggested online (such as Seagate, HP USB, or MBRFIX) but none work or sometimes won't even recognize the drive. The most success I've had (I guess) is from Diskpart. I found a thread where someone gave a thorough list of commands to try if the simple Clean>Create Partition>Format operation didn't succeed but none of the options worked. I kept getting messages like 'access denied' or 'system file path not found'. When I use the command 'List Volume' I've seen the status say healthy the first time I used Diskpart but now it says unusable.
I really want to fix it if I'm able to, so any help will be greatly appreciated. If you need more info or screenshots, I will reply promptly.
